Multiple people commonly use cosmetic testers, especially lipsticks, which raises the possibility of microbiological contamination. The purpose of this study was to determine the isolated bacteria using the VITEK method, assess their antimicrobial susceptibility, and examine the microbial presence in lipstick testers. Microbial analysis was performed on lipstick samples that were gathered from different retail locations. Upon identification of the isolated microbes, it was discovered that Staphylococcus gallinarium and Micrococcus luteus were among the possible pathogens. Common antibiotics were employed to assess these isolate’s antimicrobial susceptibility. The results raised questions regarding the safety of shared cosmetic testers since they showed a notable prevalence of antibiotic resistant bacteria. These findings are consistent with other research emphasizing the microbial hazards connected to cosmetics. The study emphasizes the necessity of strict hygienic procedures in retail settings for cosmetics as well as heightened customer knowledge of the dangers of sharing testers. Microbial contamination might be reduced by using single use applicators and routinely cleaning cosmetic testers. Alternative antimicrobial agents that might improve the safety of cosmetic goods should be investigated further.
