The global prevalence of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases has increased substantially, posing significant challenges to healthcare systems and public health worldwide. Emerging evidence indicates that persistent low-grade inflammation plays a central role in the pathogenesis and progression of these conditions, necessitating innovative and integrative therapeutic approaches. In this context, nutrition has gained increasing attention as a modifiable factor capable of influencing immune function and inflammatory processes.
This study aims to explore nutritional strategies as immunotherapeutic interventions for the prevention and management of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. A narrative synthesis approach is employed, integrating insights from nutritional immunology, gut microbiome research, and advances in digital health technologies. The review examines the role of macro- and micronutrients, dietary patterns, and microbiota-targeted interventions in modulating immune responses and maintaining immune homeostasis.
Findings suggest that specific nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids, alongside dietary patterns such as plant-based and anti-inflammatory diets, play a critical role in regulating immune function. Furthermore, the modulation of gut microbiota through diet, probiotics, and prebiotics emerges as a key mechanism in influencing both innate and adaptive immunity. The integration of artificial intelligence and big data analytics offers promising opportunities for developing personalized nutritional interventions tailored to individual immune profiles.
The study underscores the potential of nutritional immunotherapy as a complementary and scalable strategy in managing chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. It highlights the importance of personalized nutrition and technology-driven healthcare solutions in optimizing therapeutic outcomes and advancing precision medicine.
